The Future of Richmond Highway
Tomorrow on One

one future, built together.
Richmond Highway has always connected people, businesses, and communities. Today, it's entering one of the most significant periods of investment in the corridor's history.
Through the Embark Richmond Highway Plan and the future Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, Fairfax County is investing in a corridor that's easier to move through, better connected, and positioned to support local businesses and the needs of an evolving community for generations to come.

ONE vision for the future
The Embark Richmond Highway Plan is Fairfax County's long-term vision for the corridor. It looks beyond individual projects to imagine what Richmond Highway can become over the coming decades.
That vision includes:
- Walkable town centers
- Safer streets for everyone
- Better connections between neighborhoods
- New parks and public spaces
- Housing choices for a growing community
- More opportunities for local businesses to succeed
Embark is about more than new development. It's a blueprint for creating a corridor where businesses can thrive, neighborhoods remain connected, and future growth builds on the strengths that already exist today.

Richmond Highway Bus Rapid Transit
One smarter way to connect
One of the most visible investments planned for Richmond Highway is the future Richmond Highway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, known as The One.
Designed to provide faster, more reliable service between Huntington Metro Station and Fort Belvoir, BRT will operate primarily in dedicated travel lanes with enhanced stations, real-time arrival information, and more frequent service. The goal is simple: make it easier for people to travel the corridor without relying solely on a car.
But BRT is about more than buses.
The project includes safer pedestrian crossings, new sidewalks, protected bicycle facilities, improved landscaping, enhanced stations, and redesigned streets that make it easier for people to move throughout the corridor.
Whether you drive, ride transit, walk, or bike, these improvements are designed to create better connections between neighborhoods, businesses, parks, schools, and community destinations.
Better connections benefit everyone. They help local businesses reach new customers, make it easer for residents to access the places they rely on every day, give commuters more transportation choices, and invite visitors to experience more of what Richmond Highway has to offer.
The future of richmond highway
one corridor. one community.
Investment is changing Richmond Highway, but the future of the corridor won't simply be defined by new roads, transit stations, or buildings alone. It will be shaped by the businesses that continue to invest here, the residents who call it home, the commuters who pass through each day, and the visitors who choose to stop, explore, and support local.
That's why Faces of ONE exists.
As Richmond Highway evolves, we're helping ensure today's businesses remain visible, connected, and supported while encouraging more people to experience everything the corridor has to offer. Because the strongest communities aren't built by infrastructure alone, they're built by the people who bring them to life.
The transformation of Richmond Highway is already underway, ONE investment, ONE business, and ONE connection at a time.
